Paving the way for anSTI-Driven Economy
To harness the power of STI, the Government established
The Science, Technology and Innovation Secretariat at
the Office of the President (STI-OP) to head the National Science,
Technology and Innovation System (NTIS).
The Secretariat has been entrusted with the task of providing
overall strategic direction, policy formulation, enactment of
regulations and provision of adequate resources for implementation
of policies and regulations in an effort to transform Uganda into
an STI-driven economy.
Mandate
We mobilize, coordinate and
provide strategic oversight and policy guidance to scientists and stakeholders along prioritized industrial value chains.
Our efforts particularly target MDAs, local governments, academic and research institutions, schools and vocational Institutions, regulators, development partners, media, private sector, and the public with the aim of increasing productivity, import substitution and export of knowledge-based products and services.
